Tamyra Nash, Tennessee

Born in Memphis, TN, Tamyra Nash has experienced life all over the world. After a childhood of yearly summertime adventure travel and living at Malibu Beach, California, she graduated with honors at Lausanne Preparatory School for Girls in 1976.
In 1977, after a year at USC, she opted for real world education, and backpacked through Europe with a one-way open ticket on Icelandic Airways and $300 in her pocket. She busked in England with friends, worked in taverns in Belgium and Germany, and experienced the rich cultures of Luxembourg, Holland, and France before returning to California.
At the age of 19, she became the active manager and assistant buyer in Jax Boutique on Rodeo Drive where she oversaw purchasing and store details, and was a personal shopper to several celebrities. Tamyra also spent two months assisting in the successful revival of a sister store in Chicago.
In 1983, Tamyra relocated to her hometown of Memphis to continue her education at the University of Memphis. At the same time, she worked as a full-time employee of Dillard’s, eventually working her way up to a managerial position in the Ralph Lauren Home Design area, then managing the Ladies Designer Dress area where she attained top sales among the associates and enjoyed the status of pacesetter. She maintained a close relationship with her clientele for her eight-year tenure.
Tamyra retired from sales in 1987 to begin the next exciting journey of her life as she married her husband of now 30 years, Timothy Nash, MD, a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician. A scuba diver from childhood, Tamyra could not resist honeymooning in Bermuda.
Due to Tim’s dream of practicing small-town medicine, after he completed his residency in 1988 the couple moved to Lewisburg, TN. In the fall of the next year, they were blessed with twin daughters, Mamie and Kate, and purchased a Queen Ann Victorian house which had been built in 1900 and stood in great need of restoration. Tamyra oversaw that undertaking, restoring it to its former glory with period pieces and hand-painted Victorian wallpaper. A third Blessing, their son Len was born in 1991.
In addition to the home restoration, Tamyra homeschooled her three children from first grade through twelfth. Her love of travel was passed to them through the family vacations they enjoyed together.
In 2007, Tamyra had the great opportunity of utilizing the knowledge she has accumulated through her travel experience to open a home-based travel agency as an independent contractor. Over the years, she has completed extensive training on worldwide destinations, cruise lines, and resorts. Tamyra has, to date, visited 36 countries on 6 continents. Her travel experience allows her to custom-tailor every vacation to every client.
My Savvy Vacation has sold over 1.5 million dollars in travel, and has experienced growth each year. Her daughter, Kate, joined the company in 2014. They specialize in Caribbean vacations, including Sandals and Beaches for couples and families, river and ocean cruises for families and groups, European adventures, and of course, adventure travel.
Tamyra also co-owns a real estate investment company and personally manages commercial and residential properties.
During her ongoing tenure as Owner of My Savvy Vacation, Tamyra has been involved in numerous local associations including eight years in BNI Frontliners chapter where she held the roles of president (1 term) and event coordinator (4 terms); the Williamson County Chamber of Commerce where she served as an Ambassador and on the Engagement Committee; Women ‘N Wine of Williamson County; The Giving Circle; and others.
Tamyra’s personal passions include scuba diving, skydiving, traveling, cooking, good literature, history, and spending time with her husband, children, son-in-law, and two granddaughters Natalie Kate (3 years) and Caroline (6 months).
The welfare of Veterans is a subject particularly close to Tamyra’s heart, as pillar figures in her life are Veterans; her father, father-in-law, daughter, son-in-law, among others have proudly served our Nation. Tamyra firmly understands that Veterans serve in a difficult capacity, and need focused support in return. She is honored to support Veterans through S.A.V.E. Home Front.
